34 – Muḥammad b. ʿAlī related to us, saying: Ibrāhīm b. al-Ashʿath narrated to us; he said: I heard al-Fuḍayl b. ʿIyāḍ and Ibn ʿUyaynah both say that Jesus son of Mary, peace be upon him, declared:

“The world has been laid flat before you and you are seated upon its back. No one will dispute it with you except kings and women. As for the kings, do not compete with them for worldly advantage; they will not trouble you so long as you leave them and their earthly domain. As for women, shield yourselves from their temptation through fasting and prayer.”
