336 – Aḥmad ibn ʿĪsā al-Miṣrī told us; he said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Wahb narrated to us; he said: Yaḥyā ibn Ayyūb informed me, from ʿĪsā ibn Mūsā, ⦗156⦘ from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad, from Abū Murrah, the freedman of ʿAqīl, from Abū Hurayrah, who traced it back to the Prophet ﷺ:
“No two ravenous, predatory wolves released upon a dispersed flock of sheep—one attacking from the front and the other from the rear—would spoil it faster than a person’s quest for worldly prestige and wealth spoils his religion.”
