333 – Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Abi Hatim al-Azdi narrated to us; he said: Dawud ibn al-Muhabbar narrated to us; he said: Hammam ibn Yahya narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Anas, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Whoever makes this world his overriding worry and preoccupation—training his eyes upon it, toiling for it, and intending nothing but it, ⦗155⦘ Allah will set poverty before his very eyes, scatter his livelihood, and nothing of it will reach him except what has already been decreed for him. But whoever makes the Hereafter his overriding worry and preoccupation—fixing his gaze upon it, striving for it, and intending it alone—Allah will place wealth in his heart, gather his livelihood together for him, and the world will come to him humbled and submissive.”
