331 – Abu Khaythamah narrated to us; he said: Ismaʿil ibn Ibrahim related to us, from Shuʿbah, from ʿUmar ibn Sulayman, from ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Aban, from his father, from Zayd ibn Thabit, who traced it back to the Prophet ﷺ, that he said:
“Whoever makes the Hereafter his aim, Allah will gather his affairs for him, place true wealth within his heart, and the world will come to him humbled. But whoever’s aim is this worldly life, Allah will scatter his affairs, set poverty before his very eyes, and nothing of the world will reach him except what has already been decreed for him.”
