325 – He said: Abu ʿAbd Allah reported that Abu Hashim said, “Though the world was in their hands, they regarded themselves within it as Allah’s treasurers. They spent nothing on their own cravings or pleasures; and whenever a duty from among the duties owed to Allah the Exalted came their way, they used that wealth to fulfill it.”
I read in the book of Dawud b. Rushayd that one of the sages said, “Anything of this world that escapes you is a gain.”
