32 – Ishaq b. Ismaʿil related to us, saying: Yahya b. Abi Bukayr al-ʿAbdi narrated to us; he said: One of the scholars informed me that Jesus son of Mary, peace be upon him, said:

“O disciples, I have cast the world down on its face for your sake, so do not set it upright again after me. Part of the world’s vileness is that Allah is disobeyed in it, and another part of its vileness is that the Hereafter can be attained only by renouncing it. Therefore, cross this world and do not endeavor to build it up.”
