295 – Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī ibn Shaqīq narrated to me. He said: I heard Ibrāhīm ibn al-Ashʿath say: I heard al-Fuḍayl ibn ʿIyāḍ say:
“No one is granted anything of this world without an equal share being taken from his Hereafter. It is also said, ‘Take it—and double it in worry!’ Likewise, whenever a person receives something of this world it is said, ‘Take it—and double it in preoccupation!’ So if you wish, gather of it abundantly, and if you wish, take but little. By Allah, you are only drawing from your own purse.”
