287 – ʿAbd al-Raḥīm b. Yaḥyā narrated to me; he said: ʿUthmān b. ʿUmārah narrated to us; he said: It used to be said, “Waraʿ (scrupulous piety) carries a servant to zuhd (detachment from the world), and zuhd carries him to the love of Allah, Exalted is He.”
