247 – Muhammad ibn Ishaq al-Thaqafi narrated to us; he said: One of the sages observed:
“On what basis can a person delight in the present world when a single day erodes his month, his month erodes his year, and his year erodes his entire lifetime?
How can he rejoice in this world when his very span of years is driving him toward his appointed end, and his own life is leading him straight to his death?”
