233 – ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Salih narrated to us; he said: al-Muharibi narrated to us, from Mubarak ibn Fadala, from al-Hasan, who said:
“The Companions of Muhammad ﷺ were people of keen intelligence. They worked righteous deeds, ate what was wholesome, and sent their surplus on ahead (for the Hereafter). They did not vie with the people of this world over its possessions, nor did they contend with them for its prestige, nor were they dismayed by its humiliations. They took the purest part of the world and left its dregs behind. By Allah, no good deed ever seemed great in their own eyes, and no sin ever seemed small.”
