231 – al-Ḥasan ibn Ḥammād al-Ḍabbī narrated to us; he said: Ḥusayn al-Juʿfī narrated to us, from Fuḍayl ibn ʿIyāḍ, from Sufyān al-Thawrī, who said:

“Among their supplications was: ‘O Allah, we ask You to detach our hearts from this world, yet grant us ample provision from it, and do not withhold it from us only to leave us yearning for it.’”
