205 – Azhār ibn Marwān related to me; Jaʿfar ibn Sulaymān narrated to us and said: I heard Mālik ibn Dīnār say, “Jesus son of Mary—peace be upon him—said to the disciples: ‘O gathering of disciples! Eat barley bread, drink pure water, and live on what the earth grows, for you will still fall short of giving thanks for even that. And know that the sweetness of this world is the bitterness of the Hereafter.’”
