198 – ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ṣāliḥ narrated to me; he said: ʿAmr ibn Hāshim al-Janbī related, from Juwaybir, from al-Ḍaḥḥāk, from Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
“Allah, the Almighty, spoke confidentially to Moses and said, ‘O Moses, those who try to present themselves before Me have never done so with anything equal to renouncing this world, and those who seek nearness to Me have never come closer with anything equal to scrupulously avoiding what I have forbidden.’”
