190 – ʿUthmān ibn Maʿbad narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṣāliḥ narrated to us; he said: al-Layth ibn Saʿd narrated to me; he said: Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb narrated to me that ʿAlī ibn Rabāḥ informed him that he heard ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ say from the pulpit:

“By Allah, I have never seen any people more eager for what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to renounce than you. You crave this world, whereas the Messenger of Allah ﷺ disdained it. By Allah, not three days ever passed over the Messenger of Allah ﷺ without his liabilities exceeding what he possessed.”
