180 – Suraij ibn Yūnus narrated to me; he said: A man narrated to me who had heard ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Muslim, who said: It has reached me that Jesus, son of Mary—peace be upon him—said:

“Woe to the one devoted to this world! How will he die and leave it behind, while it beguiles him and he feels safe with it, it betrays him and yet he trusts it?

Woe to the deluded! How the world shows them what they loathe, separates them from what they love, and brings upon them what they were warned of!

Woe to him whose only concern is this world and whose deeds are sins—how exposed he will be tomorrow on account of his wrongdoing!”
