169 – Hārūn ibn Sufyān narrated to me; Ibn Abī Laylā reported from Maslamah ibn Jaʿfar, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Dīnār, from al-Hasan, who used to say: “Whoever loves this world and is gladdened by it, the fear of the Hereafter departs from his heart. And there is no servant who gains more knowledge yet becomes more eager for the world except that he grows more detested by Allah and further removed from Him.”
