158 – ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ṣāliḥ narrated to us; Abu Muʿāwiyah narrated, from al-Aʿmash, from ʿUmārah ibn ʿUmayr, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Yazīd, who said:
ʿAbd Allah said, “You perform more prayer, more fasting, and more jihad than the Companions of Muhammad—peace and blessings be upon him—yet they were better than you.”
They asked, “How can that be, Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān?” He replied, “They were less attached to this world than you are, and more eager for the Hereafter.”
