149 – ʿAlī ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to us. He said: ʿAlī ibn ʿAlī informed me ⦗76⦘, from al-Ḥasan, regarding Allah’s words, “We have certainly created man in hardship” (Qur’an 90:4). Al-Ḥasan said, “I know of no creature that endures in this matter what the human being endures.” He added that Saʿīd, his brother, said, “He grapples with the straits of this world and the ordeals of the Hereafter.”
