140 – Ibrāhīm ibn Saʿīd al-Jawharī told me, saying: Mūsā ibn Ayyūb related to us; he said: Baqiyyah narrated from Ṣafwān ibn ʿAmr, from Shurayḥ ibn ʿUbayd, from Kaʿb, who said:
“The life of this world will assuredly be made so appealing to you that you will end up devoting yourselves to it and to its people. A time will come when exhortation is loathed, when the believer hides his faith just as the profligate hides his sin, and when the believer is mocked for his faith just as the libertine is mocked for his depravity.”
