136 – Al-Hasan ibn Yahya narrated to me. He said: Khuzaymah Abu Muhammad—one of the devout worshippers—related to us:
Abu Yusuf, Ya‘qub ibn Ibrahim, once visited Dawud al-Ta’i and said to him, “I have never seen anyone so content with this world as you are.”
Dawud replied, “Ya‘qub, whoever is pleased to take the whole of this world as a substitute for the Hereafter—that is the person who has settled for even less than what I have accepted.”
