111 – Al-Muthannā ibn Muʿādh ibn Muʿādh al-ʿAnbarī narrated to us; he said: Muhammad ibn Sibāʿ al-Numayrī narrated to us; he said:
While Jesus—peace be upon him—was wandering through part of the Syrian lands, a heavy rainstorm with thunder and lightning overtook him. He began searching for somewhere to take shelter. A tent appeared to him in the distance, so he went toward it; but when he reached it he found a woman inside, so he avoided it. He then came upon a cave in a mountain, entered it, and there inside was a lion. He placed his hand upon the lion and said, “My Lord, You have granted every creature a refuge, yet You have not granted me one.” The Majestic, exalted be He, answered him: “Your refuge is with Me, in a secure station of My mercy. On the Day of Resurrection I shall marry you to one hundred houris that I created with My own Hand, and I shall provide food at your wedding feast for four thousand years—each single day equal to the lifespan of the world. Then I shall command a herald to proclaim: ‘Where are the ascetics of the worldly abode? Come and witness the wedding of the ascetic, Jesus son of Mary.’”
