100 – ʿAlī ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to us; he said: Abū Muʿāwiyah informed ⦗61⦘ us, from Sulaymān ibn Farrūkh, from al-Ḍaḥḥāk ibn Muzāḥim, who said:
A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked, “Messenger of Allah, who is the most ascetic among people?” He replied:
“The one who never forgets the grave and its decay, relinquishes the finest adornments of this world, prefers what endures to what perishes, does not reckon tomorrow among his days, and counts himself among the dead.”
