87 – Ismaʿil ibn Ibrahim, Abū Ibrāhīm, narrated to me; he said: ʿĀmir ibn Yasāf related to us, from Mālik ibn Dīnār, who said:
“While a scholar from among the Children of Israel was reclining on his couch, he caught sight of one of his sons winking suggestively at women. In mild rebuke he called out, ‘Gently, my son!’ No sooner had he spoken than Allah’s punishment struck him: he was flung from the couch, his spinal cord snapped, his wife miscarried, and a voice said to him, ‘Is this how you become angry for My sake? Go—never shall any good come from your lineage again.’”
