76 – Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Abi Hatim al-Azdi narrated to me, saying: Saʿd ibn Yunus ibn Abi ʿAmr al-Shaybani related to us, from ʿImran Abu al-Hudhayl, from Wahb ibn Munabbih, who said:
“When David committed the sin he prayed, ‘My Lord, forgive me.’ Allah replied, ‘I have forgiven you, but I have fastened its disgrace upon the Children of Israel.’
David said, ‘How is that, my Lord? You are the Just Judge who wrongs no one. I am the one who sinned—yet You attach its shame to others?’
Allah revealed, ‘O David, when you dared to disobey Me, they did not hasten to denounce you.’”
٧٦ - حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي حَاتِمٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيُّ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ أَبِي الْهُذَيْلِ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ، قَالَ: " لَمَّا أَصَابَ دَاوُدُ الْخَطِيئَةَ، قَالَ: يَا رَبِّ، اغْفِرْ لِي، قَالَ: قَدْ غَفَرْتُهَا لَكَ، وَأَلْزَمْتُ عَارَهَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، قَالَ: كَيْفَ يَا رَبِّ؟، وَأَنْتَ الْحَكَمُ الْعَدْلُ لَا تَظْلِمُ أَحَدًا، أَعْمَلُ الْخَطِيئَةَ وَتُلْزِمُ عَارَهَا غَيْرِي؟، فَأَوْحَى اللَّهُ: يَا دَاوُدُ، إِنَّكَ لَمَّا اجْتَرَأْتَ عَلَيَّ بِالْمَعْصِيَةِ، لَمْ يُعَجِّلُوا عَلَيْكَ بِالنَّكِيرِ "
