75 – Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn narrated to me, saying: Yahyā ibn Bisṭām related to us; he said: Jaʿfar ibn Sulaymān related to us; he said: Ibrāhīm ibn ʿAmr al-Ṣanʿānī related to us, who said:

“Allah revealed to Joshua son of Nun: ‘I am going to destroy from your people forty thousand of their righteous and sixty thousand of their wicked.’

Joshua said, ‘My Lord, those are the wicked—what sin have the righteous committed?’

Allah answered, ‘They never showed anger for what angers Me; they used to sit with them, eat with them, and drink with them.’”
