73 – Dāwūd ibn Rushayd narrated to us, saying: Baqiyyah ibn al-Walīd related to us, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Nuʿaym, from Abū Hazzān, who said: “Allah sent two angels to the people of a certain town with the order: ‘Raze it to the ground along with everyone in it.’ When they arrived, they found a man standing in prayer inside a mosque. One of them turned to Allah and said, ‘My Lord, we have found Your servant So-and-so praying in his mosque.’ Allah answered, ‘Lay the town waste, and destroy him with it—because not once has his face ever shown indignation for My sake.’”
