71 – Abu Ishaq said: “It has reached me that Ibn al-Mubarak was asked, ‘Which deeds are most virtuous?’ He replied, ‘Sincere counsel for Allah.’ It was then said to him, ‘And what about enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong?’ He answered, ‘A person’s utmost, once he has offered sincere counsel, is that he neither commands nor forbids.’”
