30 – Ishaq ibn Ismaʿil al-Talqani narrated to us; he said: Sufyan narrated to us, from Aslam ibn ʿAbd al-Malik, who said that he heard Ibn Saʿid ibn Abi al-Hasan report from the Prophet ﷺ:
“Today you stand upon a clear proof from your Lord: you command what is right, forbid what is wrong, and strive in the path of Allah. Yet you will be turned away from this, so you will neither command what is right, nor forbid what is wrong, nor strive in the path of Allah.
“Today you are upon a clear proof from your Lord; the two forms of intoxication have not yet taken hold among you—the intoxication of ignorance and the intoxication of comfortable living. But you will be turned away from that. Those who, on that day, uphold the Book both privately and openly will be like the very first forerunners among the Emigrants and the Helpers; for them is the reward of fifty.”
They asked, “O Messenger of Allah, fifty of us or fifty of them?” He replied, “No, rather fifty of you.”
