118 – Abū Yaʿqūb Yūsuf ibn Yaʿqūb al-Tamīmī narrated to me; he said: Ibn Abī Nājiya al-Iskandarānī narrated to us; he said: Ziyād ibn Yūnus al-Ḥaḍramī narrated to us, from Ibrāhīm ibn Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Ḥabība, who said: ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz said, “If a person were to withhold admonishing his brother until he had set every affair of his own soul in order and fulfilled, to completion, the worship for which he was created, then people would leave goodness to one another, the duty of enjoining right and forbidding wrong would be abandoned, and those who preach and strive for Allah by offering sincere counsel on earth would become scarce.”
