104 – Muhammad ibn Hammad al-Razi narrated to us; he said: I heard ʿAbd al-Razzaq, from Maʿmar, from Ibn Tawus, from his father, who said:
“A man came to Ibn ʿAbbas and asked, ‘Shall I not confront this ruler and command him and forbid him?’ He replied, ‘Do not become a source of turmoil for him.’
The man said, ‘What if he orders me to disobey Allah?’ He answered, ‘That is exactly what you are waiting for; when that happens, then show yourself to be a man.’”
