1 – Abu Khaythamah Zuhayr ibn Harb informed us; he said: Jarir ibn ʿAbd al-Hamid narrated to us, from Ismaʿil ibn Abi Khalid, from Qays ibn Abi Hazim, who said:
Abu Bakr recited the verse: “O you who believe, guard your own souls; those who have gone astray will not harm you once you have been rightly guided” (al-Ma’idah 5:105). He then remarked, “People place this verse where it does not belong. Indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘When a people see an oppressor and do not restrain him, and witness wrongdoing but do not change it, Allah will encompass them all in His punishment.’”
١ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، قَالَ: قَرَأَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ ﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ لَا يَضُرُّكُمْ مَنْ ضَلَّ إِذَا اهْتَدَيْتُمْ﴾ [المائدة: ١٠٥] ثُمَّ قَالَ: إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَضَعُونَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ عَلَى غَيْرِ مَوْضِعِهَا، أَلَا وَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: «إِنَّ الْقَوْمَ إِذَا رَأَوُا الظَّالِمَ فَلَمْ يَأْخُذُوا عَلَى يَدَيْهِ، وَالْمُنْكَرَ فَلَمْ يُغَيِّرُوهُ، عَمَّهُمُ اللَّهُ بِعِقَابِهِ»
