56 – Suraij b. Yunus narrated to me; ʿAli b. Thabit narrated to us, from Khattab b. al-Qasim, from Abu ʿUthman, who said:

Jesus, peace be upon him, was praying on the summit of a mountain when Satan approached and said, “Are you the one who claims that everything happens by divine decree and predestination?” He replied, “Yes.” Satan then said, “Cast yourself down from the mountain and say, ‘It has been decreed for me.’”

Jesus answered, “You accursed creature! Allah tests His servants; it is not for the servants to test Allah, exalted is He.”
