50 – Fudayl ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhab narrated to us; Abu Bakr ibn ʿAyyash narrated to us, from Ibn Wahb ibn Munabbih, from his father, who said:

Iblis asked Job’s wife, “What caused the ordeal that has struck you and your family?”

She replied, “It came by the decree of Allah, the Exalted.”

He said, “Then follow me.” She followed him, and he showed her, in a valley, all that had been taken from them.

He said, “Prostrate to me and I will restore it to you.”

She answered, “I have a husband; I must consult him first.” When she informed Job (peace be upon him), he said, “Has the time not come for you to recognize that this was Satan? If I am cured, I will surely strike you one hundred lashes.”
