- Al-Qurashī said: Saʿīd ibn Sulaymān al-Wāsitī narrated to us, from Sulaymān ibn al-Mughīrah, from Thābit, who reported:
When the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—was sent, Iblīs—may Allah curse him—began dispatching his devils to the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. They would come back to him carrying their tablets, on which nothing at all was written. He would ask them, “Why have you managed to get nothing from them?” They answered, “We have never associated with a people like these.”
He said, “Give them time. Perhaps the life of this world will be opened up for them; then you will obtain from them what you seek.”
٣٩ - قَالَ الْقُرَشِيُّ: وَحَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ:
: لَمَّا بُعِثَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ جَعَلَ إِبْلِيسُ لَعَنَهُ اللَّهُ يُرْسِلُ شَيَاطِينَهُ إِلَى أصحاب النبي ﷺ فجيئون إِلَيْهِ بِصُحُفِهِمْ لَيْسَ فِيهَا شَيْءٌ، فَيَقُولُ لَهُمْ: مَا لَكُمْ لا تُصِيبُونَ مِنْهُمْ شَيْئًا؟ فَقَالُوا: مَا صَحِبْنَا قَوْمًا مِثْلَ هَؤُلاءِ.
فَقَالَ: رُوَيْدًا بِهِمْ، فَعَسَى أَنْ تُفْتَحَ لَهُمُ الدُّنْيَا، هُنَالِكَ تُصِيبُونَ حَاجَتَكُمْ مِنْهُمْ.
