33 – Ibn Abī al-Dunyā said: Ibrāhīm ibn Rāshid narrated to us; Dāwūd ibn Mihrān narrated to us; Yaʿqūb al-Qummī narrated to us, from Jaʿfar, from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, who said:

When Allah the Exalted cursed Iblīs, his form was altered from the form of the angels. Alarmed, he let out a scream, and every scream that will occur until the Day of Resurrection issues from that first scream.

Saʿīd said: When Iblīs saw the Prophet ﷺ standing in prayer in Mecca, he uttered another scream.

He also said: And when the Prophet ﷺ conquered Mecca, Iblīs screamed a third time, whereupon his offspring gathered around him. He told them, “Despair of ever returning the community of Muhammad to polytheism. Instead, tempt them within their religion, and spread among them wailing and (vain) poetry.”
