28 – Ibn Abī al-Dunyā reported: Abū Salamah al-Makhzūmī related to us, Ibn Abī Fudayk related to us, from al-Ḍaḥḥāk ibn ʿUthmān, from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, from his father, from ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stated:
“The devil comes to one of you and says, ‘Who created you?’ He replies, ‘Allah.’ Then [the devil] says, ‘So who created Allah?’ If any of you experiences that, let him declare, ‘I believe in Allah and His Messenger,’ for such a declaration will dispel the misgiving.”
