16 – Ibrāhīm ibn Saʿīd al-Jawharī narrated to us; ʿAlī ibn ʿUthmān al-Lāḥiqī narrated to us; ʿUbaydah bint al-Walīd ibn Muslim related to me, from her father al-Walīd:
A man once came to a tree—some said it was a date-palm—and heard movement within it. He spoke but received no reply, so he recited Āyat al-Kursī. Something then descended to him and said, “We have someone who is ill; how do you treat him?” He answered, “With the very words by which you caused me to descend from the tree.”
