15 – Abū Bakr al-Qurashī said: Isḥāq b. Ismāʿīl narrated to us; Abū Usāmah narrated to us, from Ismāʿīl b. Abī Khālid; Abū Isḥāq narrated to us, who said:

Zayd b. Thābit went out to one of his orchards and heard a commotion inside. He said, “What is this?” A man from the jinn replied, “We have been struck by a year of drought and wanted to take some of your fruit. Would you give us leave?” He said, “Yes.”

The next night he went out again and heard a commotion there as well. He asked, “What is this?” The reply came, “A man from the jinn: we have been struck by a year of drought and wanted to take some of your fruit. Would you give us leave?” He said, “Yes.”

Zayd b. Thābit then said to him, “Will you not tell me something that will protect us from you?” He answered, “Āyat al-Kursī (the Throne Verse).”
