And leave the creed of those enslaved to custom; never adopt it. Turn aside from the path of the nation upon whom wrath was unleashed.

Whoever has wandered away from the truth—do not follow him (2); instead, weigh what people profess on the scales of equity.
(2) In Al-Durra al-Bahiyya the wording is: “fa-la taʿfuna-hu” (do not pardon him).
٨٩- ودَعْ دِينَ ذي العاداتِ لا تتبَعَنَّه ... وعُجْ عن سبيل الأمةِ الغضبيَّة
٩٠- ومن ضل عن حقٍّ فلا تقفونَّه (٢) ... وزنْ ما عليه الناس بالمَعْدِليةِ
