His words, majestic is His praise:
‘Indeed, We have sent down to you the Book in truth so that you may judge between people by what Allah has shown you. And do not be an advocate for the treacherous.’
[al-Nisā: 105]”
It ends:
“This volume has been completed, praise be to Allah, through His gracious aid and excellent support. It will be followed, Allah willing, by His words (mighty and majestic is He): ‘And chaste women from among the believers and chaste women from among those who were given the Book before you, provided that you give them their bridal gifts.’
[al-Māida: 5]”
The part comprises 146 folios, with approximately 16 lines per page.
Part Nineteen of the same copy: 283, Institute; 80/37, al-Qarawiyyīn Collection.
It begins with verse 10 of Surah al-Arāf and ends with verse 63 of the same surah.
On its first folio, which has suffered deterioration:
“Part Nineteen of al-Tabarī’s Tafsīr.”
Beneath it:
“Praise be to Allah. It was housed in the library of al-Khalafāwiyyīn School and was later transferred to the library of al-Qarawiyyīn Mosque so that it might be of benefit there, as is expressly stated on the verso of some volumes of this work.”
It opens:
“In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. Discussion of the interpretation of His words (mighty and majestic is He): ‘We certainly established you upon the earth and provided you therein with means of livelihood. Little are you grateful.’
[al-Arāf: 10]”
Its ending is incomplete. The extant text concludes with the discussion of the interpretation of His words—mighty and majestic is He—: “Do you marvel that a reminder has come to you from your Lord through a man from among you?”
[al-Arāf: 69]
There is a lacuna in its middle, where folios from the commentary on Surah Yūnus, covering verses 2–11, were mistakenly placed instead of the original pages. This lacuna extends across nine folios of the manuscript. We have placed those folios in their proper location in Part Thirty-Two.
The part comprises 78 folios, with approximately 19 lines per page.
