Allah on pulpits of light to the right of the All-Merciful, and both of His hands are right hands—that is, those who are just in their judgments, with their families, and in every matter placed under their authority.’ Reported by Muslim.
He, peace and blessings be upon him, also said: ‘Allah’s right hand is full; spending does not diminish it. It pours forth night and day. Have you considered what He has spent since He created the heavens and the earth? Yet that has not reduced what is in His right hand. And justice is in His other hand; He raises and lowers until the Day of Resurrection.’ Recorded by Muslim in his Ṣaḥīḥ, and, I believe, by al-Bukhārī as well. [His words “does not diminish it” mean: it is never reduced.]
Another authentic report from Abū Saʿīd al-Khuḍrī states that the Messenger of Allah said: ‘On the Day of Resurrection the earth will be a single loaf that the Almighty will turn over in His hand just as any one of you turns over his loaf while travelling.’ [“A single loaf … turns it over in His hand”: the loaf (khubzah) is a lump of dough placed in hot ashes until it is done. He will shift it from hand to hand until it is even; the meaning is that Allah will make the earth a vast loaf, prepared as food for the people of Paradise. See al-Qāmūs, root kh-b-z, and Shaykh ʿAbd al-Bāqī’s note.]
It is likewise authentically related from Ibn ʿUmar that the Messenger of Allah described: ‘The Lord, Mighty and Majestic, will take His heavens and His earth in His two hands;’ then the Prophet opened and closed his hands, saying, ‘I am the All-Merciful,’ until I saw the pulpit shake beneath him and thought it might fall with the Messenger of Allah. In another version he recited on the pulpit: ‘They have not esteemed Allah as He should be esteemed. The whole earth will be in His grasp on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens will be rolled up in His right hand’ (al-Zumar 67), and added: ‘He will say, “I am Allah, I am the Compeller,”’ and so on.
Another sound narration from Abū Hurayrah reports that the Messenger of Allah said: ‘Allah will grasp the earth and fold up the sky in His right hand, then He will declare, “I am the King! Where are the kings of the earth?”’—a wording that accords with the account related by the Jewish scholar.
In a rigorously authentic hadith: ‘When Allah created Adam He said to him, while His two hands were closed, “Choose whichever you wish.” Adam answered, “I choose the right hand of my Lord”—and both of the hands of my Lord are right, blessed hands. He then opened it, and in it were Adam and all his descendants.’
Another authentic report states: ‘Allah wrote with His own hand upon Himself, when He created the creation: “My mercy prevails over My wrath.”’
It is also soundly transmitted that when Adam and Moses disputed, Adam said, ‘O Moses! Allah chose you with His speech and wrote the Torah for you with His hand,’ and Moses had said to him, ‘You are Adam, whom Allah created with His hand and into whom He breathed of His spirit.’
In another narration He, exalted is He, says: ‘By My might and majesty, I will not equate the righteous offspring of one whom I created with My two hands with those of whom I merely said, “Be!” and they were.’
And in yet another hadith found in the Sunan: ‘When Allah created Adam, He wiped his back with His right hand and drew forth from him his progeny. He then said, “I created these…’
