The heretics also harbored doubt regarding His words:
“That is because Allah is the Patron of those who believe, whereas the disbelievers have no patron …”
Concerning His statement:
“That is because Allah is the Patron of those who believe, whereas the disbelievers have no patron.” (Muḥammad 47:11)
And in another verse He said:
“Then they will be returned to Allah, their true Patron.” (al-Anʿām 6:62)
They exclaimed, “How can this be part of the definitive speech? He informs us that He is the patron of those who believe, and then He says,
‘whereas the disbelievers have no patron.’ (Muḥammad 47:11)
Thus they fell into doubt about the Quran.2
(2) Al-Shinqiti, may Allah have mercy on him, said: regarding the verse, “Then they will be returned to Allah, their true Protector” (al-Anam 6:62) =
شك الزنادقة في قوله:
{ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ مَوْلَى الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَأَنَّ الْكَافِرِينَ لا مَوْلَى لَهُمْ}
...
وأما قوله:
{ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ مَوْلَى الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَأَنَّ الْكَافِرِينَ لا مَوْلَى لَهُمْ}
[محمد: ١١]

وقال في آية أخرى:
{ثُمَّ رُدُّوا إِلَى اللَّهِ مَوْلاهُمُ الْحَقِّ}
[الأنعام: ٦٢]

فقالوا:
كيف يكون هذا من الكلام المحكم؟! يخبر أنه مولى من آمن،
ثم قال:
{وَأَنَّ الْكَافِرِينَ لا مَوْلَى لَهُمْ}
[محمد: ١١]
فشكُّوا في القرآن٢.
