The heretical skeptics also cast doubt on His words:
“On that Day faces will be radiant, looking toward their Lord….”
Concerning the verse, “Faces that Day will be radiant, looking toward their Lord” [Q 75:22–23], and another verse, “No vision can encompass Him, yet He encompasses all vision” [Q 6:103], they asked, “How can this be? He tells us they will behold their Lord, yet elsewhere He says, ‘No vision can encompass Him.’”
Thus they doubted the Quran and claimed that one part of it contradicts another.2
(2) Al-Shanqiti, may Allah have mercy on him, says: Concerning the verse “la tudrikuhu al-absar” (Sight cannot encompass Him) – 6:103, someone might think that Allah cannot be seen with the eyes. Yet other verses affirm that He will indeed be seen, such as: “wujuhun yawma idhin nadirah, ila rabbiha nadirah” (faces on that Day will be radiant, gazing at their Lord) – 75:22-23; “lilladhina ahsanu al-husna wa ziyadah” (for those who have excelled there is the best reward and more) – 10:26, where al-husna denotes Paradise and the “more” refers to beholding the noble Face of Allah; and likewise His saying, “lahum ma yashaauna fiha wa ladayna mazeed” (there they shall have whatever they wish, and with Us there is yet more) —
شك الزنادقة في قوله:
{وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاضِرَةٌ، إِلَى رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ}
...
وأما قوله:
{وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاضِرَةٌ، إِلَى رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ}
[القيامة: ٢٢، ٢٣]

وقال في آية أخرى:
{لا تُدْرِكُهُ الأَبْصَارُ وَهُوَ يُدْرِكُ الأَبْصَارَ}
[الأنعام: ١٠٣]
.
فقالوا:
كيف يكون هذا؟ يخبر أنهم ينظرون إلى ربهم،
وقال في آية أخرى:
{لا تُدْرِكُهُ الأَبْصَارُ وَهُوَ يُدْرِكُ الأَبْصَارَ}
.
فشكوا في القرآن، وزعموا أنه ينقض بعضه بعضًا٢.
٢ قال الشنقيطي رحمه الله: قوله تعالى: {لا تُدْرِكُهُ الأَبْصَارُ} [الأنعام: ١٠٣] الآية.
هذه الآية الكريمة توهم أن الله تعالى لا يُرى بالأبصار. وقد جاءت آيات أخر تدل على أنه يُرى بالأبصار، كقوله تعالى: {وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاضِرَةٌ، إِلَى رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ} [القيامة: ٢٢، ٢٣] وكقوله: {لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا الْحُسْنَى وَزِيَادَةٌ} [يونس: ٢٦] فالحسنى: الجنة، والزيادة: النظر إلى وجه الله الكريم، وكذلك قوله: {لَهُمْ مَا يَشَاءُونَ فِيهَا وَلَدَيْنَا مَزِيدٌ} =
