Such, then, is the account of Adam’s creation. As for His words,

“from an extract of a contemptible fluid” (al-Sajdah 32:8),

this refers to the beginning of the creation of his descendants. The term sulālah (extract) denotes the semen as it issues from the man; that is the meaning of His phrase, “from fluid,” namely, the seminal fluid, while “despicable” means weak. This is the point over which the heretics cast their doubts.
