He—majestic is His Face—also says, “lasting,” and He says, “they shall remain therein forever” [an-Nisāʾ 4:57], and, “its fruit is everlasting” [ar-Raʿd 13:35]. When Allah says “everlasting,” it can never be cut off.

He says, “and from it they will never be expelled” [al-Ḥijr 15:48]; and, “Indeed, the Hereafter is the abode of permanence” [Ghāfir 40:39]; and, “The Home of the Hereafter is the real life, if only they knew” [al-ʿAnkabūt 29:64]. He says, “remaining therein forever” [al-Kahf 18:3]; and, “As for those whose faces shine, they will be within Allah’s mercy; they will dwell therein forever” [Āl-ʿImrān 3:107]. He likewise says, “and abundant fruit, never ending and never forbidden” [al-Wāqiʿah 56:32–33]. Verses of this sort are many in the Quran.

As for the inhabitants of the Fire, He says, “It shall not be decreed that they die, nor shall its punishment be lightened for them” [Fāṭir 35:36]. He says, “Those have despaired of My mercy” [al-ʿAnkabūt 29:23]. He says, “Allah will never show them mercy” [al-Aʿrāf 7:49]. He says, “They will call out, ‘O Mālik! let your Lord finish us off,’ but he will answer, ‘You are to remain here’” [az-Zukhruf 43:77]. He says, “Whether we panic or persevere, it is all the same for us—there is no escape” [Ibrāhīm 14:21]. He says, “They will dwell therein forever; those are the worst of creatures” [al-Bayyinah 98:6]. And He says, “Whenever their skins are burned away We replace them with new skins” [an-Nisāʾ 4:56].
