in what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to you” ⦗Al-ʿAnkabūt 29:46⦘,
“and speak a just word” ⦗Al-Aḥzāb 33:70⦘,
“then say: Bear witness that we are Muslims” ⦗Āl ʿImrān 3:64⦘.
He also said,
“And say: The truth is from your Lord” ⦗Al-Kahf 18:29⦘;
and,
“Then say: Peace be upon you” ⦗Al-Anʿām 6:54⦘.
We have never heard Allah say: Say: “My Speech is created.”
He said,
“Do not say, ‘Three.’ Refrain…” ⦗An-Nisāʾ 4:171⦘;
and He said,
“Do not say to the one who offers you peace, ‘You are not a believer’” ⦗An-Nisāʾ 4:94⦘,
“Do not say, ‘rāʿinā’” ⦗Al-Baqarah 2:104⦘,
“and do not say regarding those who are slain in the path of Allah that they are dead” ⦗Al-Baqarah 2:154⦘,
“and never say of anything, ‘I will surely do that tomorrow,’ without adding, ‘if Allah wills’” ⦗Al-Kahf 18:23–24⦘,
“and do not say to them ‘fie’, nor repel them” ⦗Al-Isrāʾ 17:23⦘,
“and do not call upon another deity along with Allah” ⦗Al-Qaṣaṣ 28:88⦘,
“and do not kill your children for fear of poverty” ⦗Al-Anʿām 6:151⦘,
“and do not keep your hand shackled to your neck” ⦗Al-Isrāʾ 17:29⦘,
“and do not slay the soul that Allah has made sacred—except with justice” ⦗Al-Anʿām 6:151⦘,
“and do not approach the property of the orphan except in the best manner” ⦗Al-Anʿām 6:152⦘,
“and do not walk exultantly upon the earth” ⦗Luqmān 31:18⦘.
There are many passages like this in the Quran.
Such, then, is what Allah has forbidden, while never telling us: Do not say, “The Quran is My Speech.”
Furthermore, the angels themselves called Allah’s speech “speech” and never termed it a creation, as in His saying,
“until, when the dread is lifted from their hearts, they will say, ‘What did your Lord say?’ ” ⦗Sabaʾ 34:23⦘.
That is because the angels had not heard the sound of revelation during the interval between Jesus and Muhammad—
