—those righteous predecessors and guiding Imams—who directed us to the knowledge extracted from the Qur’an and the Sunnah. By Allah’s leave, He used him to steer us toward the truth about which people have differed and to unveil for us the priceless treasures and precious gems scattered throughout the words of Allah and the words of His Messenger. We then tasted the coolness of rest and reassurance after long toil and exhaustion, and we experienced full contentment and sound understanding after prolonged confusion and uncertainty.

Therefore we considered it a duty we owe our Ummah at large—and Muslim youth in particular—to point them to the good to which Allah, exalted is He, has opened our eyes, to guide them to the path of righteousness, and to join hands with them in avoiding the causes of bewilderment and ruin. With Allah alone lies success and unfailing support, always and forever.

For this reason we have been keen, from time to time, to provide Muslims with every piece of beneficial knowledge and every sound, serious study that crosses our path—studies that present true Islam plainly, without ambiguity; simply, without complication; pure, free of impurities; and clear, devoid of every speck and stain. In these works each issue is linked to its evidence, every opinion to its proof. They spare students the need to consult a multitude of lengthy volumes, satisfy them with radiant arguments, protect them from confusion, loss, discord, and turmoil, and cultivate within them an intellectual unity that gives rise to emotional unity. This, God willing, will then be followed by unity of action to establish the religion, to strive in jihad for its implementation and conveyance, and to secure its dominance throughout the worlds.
