– Among the hallmarks of the hypocrites—those who outwardly profess Islam while concealing unbelief—is that, when they are summoned to refer their disputes to the Messenger ﷺ and to his Sunnah, they refuse; instead, they turn away in aversion.
– Believers are the very opposite of the hypocrites: when they are called to take their case to the Messenger ﷺ, they hasten to comply, declaring with word and deed, “We hear and we obey.” By this response they become truly successful and will be counted among the winners of the Gardens of Bliss.
– Whatever the Messenger ﷺ commands us, we are obliged to follow, just as we are obliged to abstain from everything he forbids.
– He ﷺ is our model and exemplar in every matter of our religion—provided we are among those who hope for Allah and the Last Day.
– Everything the Messenger of Allah ﷺ utters that pertains to the religion or to matters of the unseen that cannot be known by reason or experiment is revelation from Allah to him; no falsehood approaches it from before it or from behind it.
– His Sunnah ﷺ serves as an exposition of what was sent down to him in the Quran.
– The Quran does not dispense with the Sunnah; rather, the Sunnah stands beside it in obligatory obedience and adherence. Whoever deems the Quran sufficient without the Sunnah sets himself in opposition to the Messenger ﷺ and fails to obey him, thereby contradicting the verses cited above.
