- A blatant calumny:
It seems the doctor cannot enjoy life or rest at ease unless he is inventing lies about the Salafis—at times openly, at times thinly disguised. On this occasion he fabricates another slander, claiming that we forbid seeking the Prophet’s intercession ﷺ after his death on the grounds that his influence over events ended when he passed away. He then volunteers to “prove” that the Prophet ﷺ, whether during his lifetime or after his demise, has no inherent power to affect anything under any circumstance, and that the only true Actor in the universe is Allah alone, exalted be He.
From this it is patently clear that he is accusing the Salafis of believing that the Prophet ﷺ possessed an intrinsic, independent ability to influence matters while alive. That is a flagrant lie and an obvious calumny; no Salafi has ever uttered such a notion—indeed, the idea has never even crossed the mind of any Salafi. How could they say such a thing when they are the very callers to pure monotheism and sound religion, who have made it their chief concern to summon people to dedicate all worship solely to Allah Most High, to purge their beliefs of every trace of polytheism, and to censure anything that blemishes the sanctity of tawḥīd, even if only a verbal slip? For this cause they have endured people’s harm, defamation, fabrications, and the ugliest accusations. The sole grievance people—Dr. al-Buti among them—hold against them is precisely this truthful call. Yet he feels no shame in hurling at them this baseless charge, which he—so we are convinced—knows better than anyone else to be an invented falsehood. If not, then let him—if he can—produce the source
