Al-Isra wal-Miraj wa Dhikr Ahadithihima wa Takhrijiha wa Bayan Sahihiha - Nasir al-Din al-Albani - (11)

Anas said: The Prophet recounted that he met in the heavens Adam, Idris, Moses, Jesus, and Abraham—may Allah’s blessings be upon them all—but he did not fix the exact levels of their abodes, except that he mentioned finding Adam in the lowest heaven and Abraham in the sixth heaven.1

Anas continued: When Gabriel passed with the Prophet—and in another narration: when the Messenger of Allah [m] ﷺ passed—by Idris, Idris said, “Welcome, righteous Prophet and righteous brother.”

I asked, “Who is this?” He replied, “This is Idris.”

Then I passed by Moses, and he said, “Welcome, righteous Prophet and righteous brother.” I asked, “Who is this?” He answered, “This is Moses.”

Then I passed by Jesus,2 who said, “Welcome, righteous brother and righteous Prophet.” I asked, “Who is this?” He said, “This is Jesus.”

Then I passed by Abraham, and he said, “Welcome, righteous Prophet and righteous brother.”

(1) Al-Hafiz (Fath al-Bari, 1/462) notes that this wording matches Sharik’s report from Anas, whereas every other narration—apart from these two—places him in the seventh heaven. The version held by the majority is stronger, because it explicitly states that the Prophet saw him reclining with his back against the Bayt al-Maʿmur, and that scene is unanimously located in the seventh heaven. (2) In this context the particle thumma ("then") does not convey chronological sequence, for all the narrations agree that the Prophet passed by him before passing by Moses.

قال أنس: فذكر أنه وجد في السماوات: آدم وإدريس وموسى وعيسى وإبراهيم صلوات الله عليهم ولم يثبت كيف منازلهم غير أنه ذكر: أنه وجد آدم في السماء الدنيا وإبراهيم في السماء السادسة١. قال أنس: فلما مر جبريل بالنبي وفي رواية: ورسول الله: [م] ﷺ بإدريس قال: مرحبا بالنبي الصالح والأخ الصالح. "فقلت: من هذا؟ قال: هذا إدريس. ثم مررت بموسى فقال: مرحبا بالنبي الصالح والأخ الصالح. قلت: من هذا؟ قال: هذا موسى. ثم مررت بعيسى٢ فقال: مرحبا بالأخ الصالح والنبي الصالح. قلت: من هذا؟ قال: هذا عيسى ثم مررت بإبراهيم فقال: مرحبا بالنبي الصالح والأخ الصالح".

١ قال الحافظ ١/٤٦٢: هو موافق لرواية شريك عن أنس والثابت في جميع الروايات - غير هاتين - أنه في السابعة والأرجح رواية الجماعة لقوله فيها: أنه رآه مسندا ظهره إلى البيت المعمور وهو في السابعة بلا خلاف. ٢ ليست ثم على بابها في الترتيب إذ الروايات متفقة على أن المرور به كان قبل المرور بموسى.
